The Giving Tree
October 26, 2026
Help spread Christmas joy to those in need through our annual Giving Tree! Simply select an ornament from the tree (up on Nov. 13), purchase the requested gift, and return it unwrapped by Sunday, December 13. This year, please place your gift in the designated collection bin that matches the color of your ornament. Your generosity will benefit five local organizations: Old St. Mary’s Pregnancy Center, Family Promise, J.F. Burns Elementary School, Pregnancy Center East, and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Thank you for helping make Christmas brighter for others!

Members of SMOY and St. Columban took part in a five-week discussion group to share their thoughts on Pope Leo’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas. The encyclical presents a history of Catholic Social Teaching and gives guidance on how we can safeguard human dignity in the era of artificial intelligence. The program was hosted by SMOY’s Social Action Commission.

We gather to remember and pray for all those from our parish who have died in the past year. Though they may no longer be with us in this life, our prayers for them are a beautiful expression of love and unity in the Body of Christ. In God's eternal time, our prayers still matter. “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
