Thank you to the team who planned and hosted Fr. Stephen's wonderful farewell party! Guests enjoyed sandwiches and desserts in a festive atmosphere while wishing Fr. Stephen well. Thanks to everyone who came out to say good bye. Fr. Stephen will be serving as a chaplain in the Unites States Air Force.
Congratulations to Jason Molas, the recipient of this year's Kreidler Family Educational Gift. This $1,000 scholarship is used towards tuition at a Catholic high school. Jason plans to attend St. Xavier High School in the fall. His parents are Ella and Baltazar Molas. The scholarship is named in honor of Father Tom Kreidler, who served as pastor of SMOY from 1996 to 2008. Awarded annually, the gift recognizes an active St. Margaret of York youth parishioner who lovingly reaches out to others in the name of Christ. The young person is a current or incoming high school student who demonstrates a willingness to serve others at SMOY and the community at large.
Pope Leo XIV proclaimed a special Franciscan Jubilee Year this year to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. On June 2, 2026 fifty of our parishioners made a pilgrimage to the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana. Our day included Mass, the Rosary at the Fatima Shrine, and a special presentation on the life of St. Francis of Assisi by Sr. Olga Wittekind, director of the retreat center. In the afternoon, pilgrims had free time to explore the grounds and even enjoy some of Sister Cleo's ice cream. It was a beautiful and faith-filled day.
