Knights of Columbus Receive Award
July 8, 2026
The St. Margaret of York Knights of Columbus have achieved the prestigious Star Council Award for 2025-2026. Star Awards recognize outstanding achievement in membership, insurance, council programming and activities, and overall operations. Earning a Star Award is the marker of a high performing Knights of Columbus unit and the goal to which every council, district, and assembly strives. Congratulations, Knights!

Held annually on the last weekend of July, SMOYFest is a chance for our community to come together for fun, fellowship, and FROGS! We’re excited to welcome back the popular Frog Drop , along with a festive Jimmy Buffett “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” theme on Sunday. Enjoy great music from Parrots of the Caribbean , and get ready to party island-style! So grab your Hawaiian shirts and flip flops , come on down, and kick back with a Margarita —because after all… it’s five o’clock somewhere! Visit smoyfest.org for more information or view the video below! There are so many ways you can support the festival : attend, bring your friends and family, purchase raffle, basket, and frog drop tickets, become a sponsor, or volunteer to help run or staff a booth. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Kathy McGaughy at kmcgaughy@smoy.org .

Fr. Emmerling has begun as our new Parochial Vicar. He said, "I was born in Cincinnati and grew up near St. Ignatius Church on the West side of Cincinnati. I was blessed to be in a large family, the oldest of eight children. I attended St Ignatius School until 5th grade and from there I was homeschooled. I began my seminary studies after high school, at the Josephinum in Columbus from 2017 to 2021. I then began my studies at Mount St. Mary's Seminary for another five years. A few of my hobbies that I picked up over the years include cooking, hunting, listening to music, and studying. I am looking very much forward to getting to know the parish and parishioners."

Congratulations to Jason Molas, the recipient of this year's Kreidler Family Educational Gift. This $1,000 scholarship is used towards tuition at a Catholic high school. Jason plans to attend St. Xavier High School in the fall. His parents are Ella and Baltazar Molas. The scholarship is named in honor of Father Tom Kreidler, who served as pastor of SMOY from 1996 to 2008. Awarded annually, the gift recognizes an active St. Margaret of York youth parishioner who lovingly reaches out to others in the name of Christ. The young person is a current or incoming high school student who demonstrates a willingness to serve others at SMOY and the community at large.
