An Update About Our Seminarians

March 17, 2026

Our parish is so fortunate to have two seminarians in priestly formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology in Cincinnati. Curtis Gross will be ordained in less than two months and Peter Hoffman is finishing his second year. Priests serve the world by sharing the message of faith, guiding and caring for people spiritually, and offering their lives in service to the Church and others. Please keep Curtis and Peter in your prayers.

Peter shared the exciting news that the Mount St. Mary’s basketball team that he and Curtis play on won the annual seminary basketball tournament hosted by the Josephinum Seminary in Columbus! The team, named The Minor Prophets, went undefeated (5-0) the entire weekend of play. Peter said, “Curtis and I were proud to represent not only our seminary but also SMOY, and we were happy to help bring home the trophy to Cincinnati for the first time since 1991. Everyone at St. Margaret of York continues to be in my prayers, and I'm looking forward to serving upcoming ordinations and first Masses, celebrating the Easter season, and finishing my second year strongly before beginning my parish summer assignment in Cincinnati.”

Off the basketball court, Curtis has been busy performing baptisms, defending and publishing his thesis, and ministering to the Hispanic population at St. Susanna. He said, “My time as a deacon has been great! I believe I'm into double digits with the number of baptisms, and I also just presided at the wedding of my cousin in Nashville. So glad he asked me to marry him and his spouse in the Church!”

Curtis will be ordained to the priesthood on May 16, 2026 at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains. Congratulations, Curtis!

During this holy season of Lent, we invite you to join us in praying the Stations of the Cross as we walk with Christ on His journey to Calvary. Together, we will reflect on His sacrifice, deepen our conversion, and draw closer to His Sacred Heart. All are welcome to join us in this sacred tradition. Friday, March 20 & 27 at 7:00 pm in church with Fr. Stephen. *You may also pray the Stations independently using the booklets on the cart outside the St. Margaret Room.

Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a special Franciscan Jubilee Year to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. This Jubilee will be celebrated from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027 , inviting the faithful to renew their commitment to holiness, peace, humility, and charity following the example of St. Francis. During this year, the Apostolic Penitentiary grants a plenary indulgence , under the usual conditions, to those who participate devoutly in Jubilee observances. Catholics may obtain the indulgence by making a pilgrimage to a Franciscan church or shrine dedicated to St. Francis, or by spiritually uniting themselves to the Jubilee if they are unable to travel. This special Jubilee is intended as a spiritual continuation of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025. The Church encourages all believers to take part in this year of grace as a time of renewal, deeper faith, and active charity in today’s world. On June 2, 2026 our parish will go on pilgrimage to the Oldenburg Franciscan Center. Learn more here .
