An Update About Our Seminarians
Our parish is so fortunate to have two seminarians in priestly formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology in Cincinnati. Curtis Gross will be ordained in less than two months and Peter Hoffman is finishing his second year. Priests serve the world by sharing the message of faith, guiding and caring for people spiritually, and offering their lives in service to the Church and others. Please keep Curtis and Peter in your prayers.
Peter shared the exciting news that the Mount St. Mary’s basketball team that he and Curtis play on won the annual seminary basketball tournament hosted by the Josephinum Seminary in Columbus! The team, named The Minor Prophets, went undefeated (5-0) the entire weekend of play. Peter said, “Curtis and I were proud to represent not only our seminary but also SMOY, and we were happy to help bring home the trophy to Cincinnati for the first time since 1991. Everyone at St. Margaret of York continues to be in my prayers, and I'm looking forward to serving upcoming ordinations and first Masses, celebrating the Easter season, and finishing my second year strongly before beginning my parish summer assignment in Cincinnati.”
Off the basketball court, Curtis has been busy performing baptisms, defending and publishing his thesis, and ministering to the Hispanic population at St. Susanna. He said, “My time as a deacon has been great! I believe I'm into double digits with the number of baptisms, and I also just presided at the wedding of my cousin in Nashville. So glad he asked me to marry him and his spouse in the Church!”
Curtis will be ordained to the priesthood on May 16, 2026 at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains. Congratulations, Curtis!
