Congratulations to Our First Communicants
May 11, 2026
Congratulations to our First Communicants who received Jesus in the Holy Eucharist for the first time! This is a beautiful milestone in their faith journey as they come to know and love Christ more deeply through the Sacrament of Holy Communion. May the grace of this sacrament strengthen their faith and bring them closer to God each day. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Father Nicholas Emmerling, who has been newly assigned to St. Margaret of York as a parochial vicar. Fr. Emmerling is the oldest of eight children and was raised in the northwestern part of Cincinnati. He grew up at St. Ignatius Parish and he now attends St. Ann in Groesbeck. He was homeschooled from fourth grade through high school before beginning his priestly formation at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, followed by Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati beginning in 2021. After completing a total of nine years of seminary formation, Fr. Emmerling will be ordained a priest on Saturday, May 16, 2026. During his time at Mount St. Mary’s, Fr. Emmerling’s father passed away. He shared that through this difficult season his family grew even closer. Reflecting on that time, he said, “The experience renewed my fervor for being a spiritual father in the priesthood.” We are grateful for Fr. Emmerling’s holy vocation and look forward to his ministry among us, which will begin July 1, 2026. Fr. Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a special Franciscan Jubilee Year to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. On June 2, 2026 our parish will go on pilgrimage to the Oldenburg Franciscan Center. Learn more here . This Jubilee will be celebrated from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027 , inviting the faithful to renew their commitment to holiness, peace, humility, and charity following the example of St. Francis. During this year, the Apostolic Penitentiary grants a plenary indulgence , under the usual conditions, to those who participate devoutly in Jubilee observances. Catholics may obtain the indulgence by making a pilgrimage to a Franciscan church or shrine dedicated to St. Francis, or by spiritually uniting themselves to the Jubilee if they are unable to travel. This special Jubilee is intended as a spiritual continuation of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025. The Church encourages all believers to take part in this year of grace as a time of renewal, deeper faith, and active charity in today’s world.
